From Where I Came Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

From Where I Came

I've lived in places,
People wouldn't dare visit...
To nod to fall to sleep.
That's why to a degree,
I could care less...
Who believes they can assess me.
Or my abilities.
And how I received them.
I know from where I came.
And how I have managed to get,
What I have obtained.
To remember it for the rest of my life.
And in the process...
People can assess me for as long as they like.
To come to go to leave me knowing who I am.
That's a given not to be taken away.
I don't do fake!
