Frozen Sumas Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Frozen Sumas

Frozen Sumas

In Sumas of today
Found snow, frozen,
So, recalled other days.

One was Qom's desert,
Took course of survival.

The wind was like here,
It howled, causing fear,
Took our tent into air,
Leaving us in dust, dirt,
With venom of snakes!

Hellish was survival,
Felt the same way today.

Cold wind is like dagger
It goes deep, penetrates
Past the skin, fat, flesh…

In was young, late teenage
Feel the same after years,
In my bones, it has nest!

In second, much younger
A was child, but devil.

Must have been spring
Late winter, possibly.

Begged sister, lovingly
To go ask her husband,
To take me: "I will help."

Rays of sun were absent,
White snow, glacier,
On all peaks of mountains.

Are decades from then,
But still toes, fingers,
Are host to that sickness.
