Gangster may not be behind bars
Gangster may not be serving time
In prison
But gangster ain't never free
Always got to watch his back
Always afraid
To be without a gun
Can't have no peace of mind
Because he's got to
Always be on the run
Gangster ain't never free

Gangster can't trust nobody
Because a friend might
Turn out to be a foe
Creep in the darkness
Because he don't never know
Who might be looking
His way
So always
Alert he must stay
If he happen to make a mistake
Might be
The last one he live to make
Eyes always wide open
You see
That's just the way it's got to be
Gangster is handcuffed to
The gangster life
And that being said
Gangster ain't never free!
