Gangster Love Poem by Mindy Brown

Gangster Love

You wrote me these words:
“show no pity if I die
send my soul to Juggalo City,
dig my grave six feet deep
put 2 matches at my feet
put 2 hatchets on my chest
and tell my homies i did my best…”

BUT did you ever think to stop and look around?
I do not know you very much
But I feel like my heart will bust
If you trust this life of lies and murder
And walk away from me in disgust.

You made me think
You made me wonder
You made me cry
You made me love
You made me open my heart
And allow the gates of my soul to open wide and long
So that my soul could find yours
So we could be one
And help bring each other back into the light
So don’t sit there and tell me about death
I realize you are just warning me of the possibility
BUT I do not want to think about your body in a ditch
Your dead eyes staring sightlessly into the night
And you mothers tears and of mine
I do not want to think about the blood or gore
I just want to keep the image of you I have in my mind.
I don’t want to imagine you dead
For I think it would steal my breath
And I would break down in tears
And wonder, “Why? ”
Life is too short to go slow
So why don’t we go fly fast together,
And let the world just pass us by?
