Gathering Christmas Poem by Adrian Antique

Gathering Christmas

A little boy went out
collecting willows in their twirl …
spinning little pebbles in a curl …
and danced all over laughing
with this magic of a girl -

his tiny face was ever painted with a ready smile …
her long, dark hair like midnight rainfall in a pile …
and they giggled with a blend of voices that somehow sings
like a pocketful of rainbows with sparkling angel wings.

They spread their hands and hoped to catch a falling star …
to tie a red ribbon around it and wish from afar …
that father fingers bear gifts rather than make war
and with care hold mother for this is who we are.

These two lively spirits roamed their seemingly endless street …
as if following a restless glow of joy beyond their fearless feet …
Gates and doors began to open and melodies of all ages meet
Like a canvas of different colors turning into a Yuletide beat.

So, the two became many and the many became the two …
In frolic with a mirth that brings yellow sparks from the blue …
A gathering of spirits in a cup of excitement without a clue
that a year is about to pass and they'll be missing quite a few.

Love then is walking around places yet building a dome …
leaving footprints everywhere but bringing others' home …
and carrying along baskets of sweets and paper stars to give away
rather than taking, December is about sharing wonders every day.
