Geihsler's Pond Poem by Rhonda Baker

Geihsler's Pond

As I reminisce back… to my parents pond
And how my six siblings and I played all day long
With only two pairs of skates, the others wearing boots
We always had fun: it was always a hoot
We made up games off the top of our head
Totally exhausted when we went to bed
Being Dorothy Hamill and Olympics were played on that pond
Of all of these memories, I am very fond
Hockey we played with no “real” sticks or a puck
America vs. Russia… who won was just luck
With some brooms, some limbs and a rock
We ping-pong from goal to goal, like a bird flock
I haven’t been skating in a dozen years gone by
Afraid of falling, I won’t even try
