Gendered Peace



Peace matters
rangima'aire in Maori
who brings about peace
a woman or man
does gender matter

Rongo-ā-marae
peace mediated by man
rongo-ā-whare
peace mediated by woman

Peace secured by dramatic action
a chiefly woman reaching out
a binding peace
rongo-take-take

Beneath a watchful eye
Rongo
god of plants and peace
all hoping it will last
