Ghosts Poem by Raymond J Wright

Ghosts

Ghosts
Of lovers past
Whisper in my ear
Haunt me
While I’m sleeping

Names that I
Have forgotten...
Some I never knew

Faces
Looming above me
In my ardor, and
Lips pressed against mine
Avowed to someone else

Men who only knew me
As a body in a bed...
Knew me as a man,
Knew every inch of me, but
Never knew my name

Shadows of those moments
Follow in my dreams
Ghosts of lovers past
Bring me to my knees

I finally got in here to read your poem, and my guess was right...it was truly haunting. I can invision those faces! Very well written. Blessings. Sheila
