Ghosts Of The Tsunami Poem by Paul Warren

Ghosts Of The Tsunami

Rating: 5.0

I am driving my cab on a cold clear night
Looking for fares without luck tonight
Strangely the moon made things seem
As other worldly in its scheme

I saw her walking slowly near the kerb
As I drove she hailed my cab without a word
I want to go to the waterfront she said
And she sat in the rear seat without dread

I asked her why she wanted to go
To the part of town ruined from the tsunami blow
She didn't look back at me her eyes out the window set
But it was strange how her hair was wringing wet

I drove on into the darkness without a word
Until she said, do you think I'm dead, seemingly so absurd
But when I looked again in the mirror
She disappeared in a sudden shimmer.
