Gifts (Sicilian Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

Gifts (Sicilian Sonnet)

You might have been God's great gift in my life,
where He tried to teach us about true love,
about peace and true joy like that of a dove,
where through the unstable years you are my wife,

in times of COVID-19, tumult and strive
daily His grace and kindness comes from above,
to me you, Daleen, are still betrothed.
You say that away you try to survive.

It is Christmas time, with hope everywhere,
in life I miss you like never before.
No one did humans for COVID-19 prepare,
and living and life is not safe anymore,
new strains like Omicron do now people scare
but still at heart I do you much adore.
