Glass Spiderwebs Spun In Glass Sheets Poem by Terence George Craddock

Glass Spiderwebs Spun In Glass Sheets

from what magical place do glass spiderwebs spring
not spun by a spider with time slow purpose delicate
a spider web is strains of silk beautiful circular webs
circles radiating out from a central beautiful point
in stillness in breezes in light with dew diamonds
raindrops caught on webs sparkling in wet day light

so easily we forget the web is spun to catch the fly
to wrap a fly in silk larder to liquid lunch dinner drink
until nothing is left but an empty mummy fly husk
to be discarded as web waits to trap catch new flies
new meals to time waiting patient slow time catch
to waiting eat in slow time spider time leisure meals

glass spiderwebs are not spun in slow time but in an instant
an instant of violent impact collision at precise impact point
this is not a painted on pattern painted upon a glass surface
this is a fracture splinter fractures eruption lace surface
it is not a broken glass but glass broken the solution is simple
the effect can be achieved if you throw an object at the glass

to be precise a plate glass mirror
with a backed support surface
glass can cobweb from impact point
even a drinking glass thrown can
make this broken glass cobweb effect
but a simple stone a bolt will do

glass on a floor where an object is dropped
on it can cause the same or similar effects
it's interesting to time observe webs in glass
'glass breaks in cobweb fracture splinters
so beautiful like a spiders spun web circle
delicate lines fractures eruption lace surface

safe until unless careless cuts fingers on splinters'

Inspired by my reply, to a comment made about my poem, 'Glass Breaks In Cobweb Finger Lures', asked by the poet Varsha Madhulika, she wondered how glass breaks into cobwebs. The last 4 lines are the poem 'Glass Breaks In Cobweb Finger Lures', by the poet Terence George Craddock.
