Gobekli Tepe Poem by Ima Ryma

Gobekli Tepe

Gobekli Tepe - human made
More than ten thousand years ago.
Upon a high hill top 'twas laid
In land of Turkey now we know.
In circles, carved stone pillars stand,
When building tools did not exist,
Somehow all done by human hand,
To entice the ancient tourist?
There was a lot of food and drink,
As excavations do display,
Perhaps an ancient travel link -
The Holiday Inn of the day!

Turks are restoring the site some,
Hoping modern tourists will come.
