God's Gift Poem by Shaneka Taylor

God's Gift

Rating: 5.0

The story was told
On a night that was cold
Of the birth of our King
The angel's did sing
They thanked the heavenly skies
For hearing their desperate cries
He sent them his only son to love
While he watched from up above
One day his son grew into a man
The King didn't want him in his land
Because they listened to what he had to say
There were more and more believers everyday
The King decided that he must die
And all his believers began to cry
And on the day that it was done
A gloomy day without no sun
Upon the cross he hung for all
Until he heard his Father's call
The King laughed and said "He's not a God, He's just a man."
But could a man rise from the dead to walk the land
We must never forget the gift God has gave
And all the poor souls he tried to save
Jesus above, Jesus below, Jesus beside me, this I know.
