God Speaks To You In Clear Voice Poem by Mohammad Younus

God Speaks To You In Clear Voice

God speaks to you in clear voice:
'Never shall you attain to true piety,
unless you spend on others, out of what you cherish yourselves;
and whatever you spend - verily, God has full knowledge thereof.'

Trees do not rest beneath their own shade.
Their branches bear fruit,
yet never taste the sweetness they hold.

The sun stretches wide across the sky,
pouring gold over the earth—
but no ray bends back to warm its face.

The moon drifts silver through the night,
softly illuminating,
but never reflects for its own delight.

Rivers rush to meet the sea,
their waters quenching countless thirsts,
yet they do not linger to drink.

Flowers bloom with tender nectar,
but their lips never press
to the chalice of their own making.

Bees labor in fields of wild blooms,
weaving gold into honey,
yet they taste little of its richness.
They hum ancient songs—
melodies spun for the ears of others.

Mothers cradle the weight of life,
bearing milk not for their own hunger.
Their arms are altars of sacrifice,
offering nourishment freely.

All that lives, lives for another.
Creation whispers in quiet symphony—
O man, attune your heart to this song.
Let your breath be for more than yourself.
To live fully is to give yourself away.
