God Took Death Poem by Gary James Smith

God Took Death

God Took Death

God took death...
To the offering of Sacrifice
And put it to death once and for all
In the person of Jesus Christ
And all of our sin...past... present and future
Received there its condemnation
And the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ
Was sufficient to provide us Salvation

What an offering in that blood
God's love poured out in His wrath
On His only begotten Son
He gave up the Best that He had
Now broken and contrite heart's
Can receive faith's offering
Where an old rugged Cross
revealed the scars of pain
Our forever identification!

Look to the Lamb of God my friend
For there's power in that name
Who raised Himself up from the dead
And is never to die again
Now He shepherds us from God's Throne
With help of the Holy Spirit
Praise God there's still power in the blood
Brother...sister...draw near it! ! !

One name alone! ...one name Hallelujah!
Sins offering made flesh!
For in the person of Jesus Christ
God has deemed His world to bless...
Amen for the power in the blood
Holiness's anointing!
And whomsoever calls upon Christ
Will never find Him disappointing!

It's a done deal! ...amen! ...hallelujah!
Salvation has faith as its token
For our Salvation is based on God's Word
And the Scriptures can never be broken!
God's Word supports the truth of God's Word
To the law and to the letter
What else can support Itself as such!
Who could ask for anything better!

Incomparable the love of God
For we have no greater measure
How the Creator of this world
Would give us of His dearest treasure
And send His Son...His only begotten!
What manner of love is this! ? ? ?
What an offering to share with His world!
It's Someone you don't want to miss! ! !

Immanuel...the Saviour is born
Come now and worship the King!
Give Him your honest offering of praise
For Christ is our Everything!
Insurmountable the debt of our sin
To the which we are ever beholden
But praise God hallelujah! ...for sinner's Deliverer!
Let us...let us! ...Behold Him! ! !

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
