Going Home From School Poem by Margaret O Driscoll

Going Home From School

Walking home from school on a warm evening in May
You were in sixth class, I was in infants
From that hilly country road lush meadows lay below us

Around a bend a hen pheasant called her clutch to safety
Whitethorn trees in profusion lined our two mile route
With cupped hands we drank cool water from a roadside spring

Butterworts violet blooms - jewels by a shady ditch
