When dusk bids farewell to the day,
to welcome in the waiting night;
Children yawn and stop their play,
Moonlamp shares her mellow light.
Life lingers then to pause awhile,
and takes her own sweet time,
to bask under a starry smile;
as Nightbells sound their silver chime.
Home lights flicker on sweet faces,
glowing in entrusting eyes;
We take our own familiar places,
no need for masks or disguise.
Utter contentment, such utter bliss,
So where then is my goodnight kiss?
