It must be one of the
greatest places on earth
-Ireland-
I've never visited, not the
republic anyway, but
I have come close many times
fine, maybe more than
a few times
It must be a gorgeous place
I did once know someone from Dublin
who saw things
maybe all things
in a gorgeous way
The candy bar was gorgeous
the mountains in the background
were gorgeous
even English Bay--
gorgeous
the local beer was
gorgeous
and so was the busker's
guitar
the dog was gorgeous
the cat was gorgeous
the solitude in the
park and the bench
they were gorgeous
the canary on
the porch across the street
was gorgeous
the chickens on the farm
they were gorgeous
the sheep, it goes
without saying,
were gorgeous
the cows, of course, were gorgeous
I suspect that if you're lucky
enough to find a soulmate
or a friend from Ireland
you'll get the gift and you'll
be feeling
gorgeous
Considering a good half of my ancestry is of Irish origin, and I've been flooded with years of Irish anecdotes, all I can say is gorgeous. Long live the emerald isle
What a gorgeous poem! I too have never been to Ireland, but have always wanted to visit. After reading your poem, that might just be my ticket. Or that lottery ticket! Great poem!
Thank you, Richard! And I totally agree about visiting. I did manage to almost get to the border. Indeed it is a gorgeous place.
