Grand Days Of Yore Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Grand Days Of Yore

Together they went a-roaming
through silver and golden sand,
when suddenly they left this world
and flew to a fantasy land.
A land where tall stately galleons
sailed over 'amethyst' seas, and
soft breezes were quietly echoing
amid the swaying palm-trees.
Girls wearing blue silken dresses
danced to a sweet lullaby...
birds of paradise spread their wings
as with beauty they graced the sky.
An ancient castle's charred remains
looked back into history ~ and the
ramparts where a battle was fought
told them that they were free.
So free to talk and love forever
on a peaceful romantic shore.
'Twas a magical dream within a dream
fashioned on grand days of yore.
