Great Grey Goliaths Poem by Sheila Sharpe

Great Grey Goliaths

Rating: 5.0

Great grey Goliaths of the deeps
grazing with gaping jaws
sliding softly across the vast
and vividly verdant Ocean floors

Sing to me your soothing song
of symphonied sounds centuries long
sung by your deep bass voices in
multitudinous mamallion throng

For Centuries we coveted your precious oil
our harpoons cruelly pierced your skin
leaving you dead and ravaged by our greed
but never defeating that spirit locked within

Currents caress your distant Kingdoms
whilst you in your great grey schools
stare at us with your deep set eyes
knowing us for presumptuous fools

Take me to your distant Sanctuaries
sing softly to me upon a distant beach
and I shall remember the tales your voices tell
Oh Great Goliath Masters of the deep
you who I love so well
