Green Conversations In The Dark Poem by Midnight Clarity

Green Conversations In The Dark

Air heaves a sigh
through leaves that clatter softly,
dripping water and
green conversation
subdued and quiet in the dark.
Light trails off lavender to indigo
while clouds on the horizon
blush as they settle for the night
out on the rim,
balanced on the sea in the dark.
Feral cats butt their heads
against the window
demanding shelter, wanting food
and ankle love
needing to twine and purr
the way I long to hold
a hand, to stroke a cheek
run a finger down the sweet line
of a throat, touch lips
to a forehead,
just for a moment
not alone
in the dark.
