Grossmutter A Holocaust Heroine Poem by Stephen Hollins

Grossmutter A Holocaust Heroine

Grandmother a Holocaust heroine
was a prominent classical pianist and composer
with long elegant artistic fingers, a beautiful woman
whose gentleness belied great courage

During her recitals, she assisted some 800 Jews
to evade the clutches of the Nazis
paying for their lives with her own
Gestapo sent her to Ravensbrück
Konzentrationslager für Frauen

With such dignity and grace, she walked
that her bones melted into her clothes
And gently she was lifted by the breeze...
to a better place

Lovely memoriam for a great lady of inner strength, well articulated and nicely penned with conviction. Thanks for sharing.
