Growing Too Fast Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Growing Too Fast

I too knew so well,
Exposed scenes young eyes...
Should not see.
To begin a journey with steps to skip,
Right over indulging innocence.

I too felt with empathy,
Much too early and too deep...
With no one there to protect me,
To explain what I would get to know...
I had already known from growing too fast.
