Guidance - Poem by Sumpter Carter

I need guidance
No words can satisfy
The confusion inside
I can't bear it.

How can I be
So utterly changed
Upon my wake
And sleep.

I know not who
I become sometimes
But it's my views
I must question.

This is no poetry
Only outcry of the heart
Do not mistake this for an attempt
To give career a start.

I am sick in my stomach
Regret of what I've done
I am ashamed
But should I be?
