Guidance Of The Good [from 'proverbs 400' In Tamil] Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Guidance Of The Good [from 'proverbs 400' In Tamil]

363. The good people pull those out proceeding
in evil ways, restrain them and lead them
in paths of virtue in this world eternal,
as the moms force their kids to milk from their breasts.

364. If you guard your wealth, it increases. Deeds of
giving take you off from sins. If the donors
choose about the places and examine
giving, it will do good e'en in your next birth.

365. The dreaded diseases and aging join with
the invincible Death and accede to us
unreined. As we're born as rare human species,
do possible acts of virtue.

366. Don't be blamed for not continuing the deeds
of virtues started with a bang but left them
midway. Be blamed for planting the saplings
and left reaping not the harvests.

367. O, you wench with clothes clad ‘round a breaking waist!
No benevolent acts your kin will do.
Though they have refrained from charity for long,
they can make great strides in a short time.

368. Though one guards well the things dried in the sun
the birds steal the things in a wink of time.
A few guard the grand things kept in a walled fort
but many lie in wait to steal the things.

369. E'en if your parents left you with hard-earned wealth,
You deem wealth as wealth. Do deeds of virtues.
When a boulder rolls down, nothing stops it.
Wealth too can't stop the oncoming death

370. Those who know that grace causes acts of virtues,
give and live. If you're rude to give up giving,
it likens leaving the hare that runs on land
to catch and eat the crow flying in the sky.

371. To attain heaven, if you do penance
and acts of virtue with deceit, it'll make you
guilty and in the birth next, it'll be the rope
tied ‘round you to make you tumble down to hell.
