Guilty Pleasures Of Reverie Poem by Denis Mair

Guilty Pleasures Of Reverie

Rating: 5.0

GUILTY PLEASURES OF REVERIE
..............................

When one wears hats in two different worlds

the disparity in depth of field between eyeballs.

results in a blur with hypnogogic effects...

or if one prefers, there is always

a metonymic sprocket to be sprung,

but the true aerial thrills lie in a chain of subsumptions,

with each thought-realm swallowing the previous sphere...

one can go kiting along at the cost of a few calories,

while scenes of rack and ruin unfold their grandeur,

too sublime to ignore.

Pleasures of reverie offer shaky consolation

For missed paths of engagement.

Meanwhile irony, being ouroboric,

offers only fleeting relief.
