Gun Poem by Colette Wintrow

Gun

I always thought of us as one,
but it altogether came undone.
I was always there to catch you as you fall,
still you abandoned me when I needed you most of all.
I was wrong to believe in such a silly fantasy but,
no worries, no harm done. 'Cause a bullet through the head
isn't as painful as one right through the heart.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this the day my girlfriend told me she no longer needed me, that same day I really needed someone and I had no one but my words.
I dedicate this poem to all the ones out there with similar experiences and hope they know it's easy to fix a broken heart.
