Haiku 10 Poem by Mark Heathcote

Haiku 10

brooks iced to go
the mountain is dressed in snow
wow, a bridal dress

setting sun - on fire
a lovers lipstick applied
horizontal - flames

departing petals
the wind raises her many skirts
love is the fabric

one daffodil dances
a lonesome sun courts the clouds
lights starry above

hymnal rivers sing
in echo to the night owls
cars and lorries hoot

a pheasant crouching
tall grasses whisper - take flight
corks elderberry

onions planted in spring
a raft of fool's gold on show
expletive black crows

snowdrops are nodding
Icicles drip, pinpointing spring
school books and prayers

kaleidoscopic skies
honey goblets filled high
open - wild crocus

discarded tit eggs
blue skies with speckled promises
hatchling dreams
