Hair Poem by Ima Ryma

Hair

In 1967 in
October - off Broadway debut,
The hair raising Hair did begin,
A musical protest to do,
Achieving critical acclaim,
Stripping away old ways to rock
The stage, never to be the same,
Letting it all hang out to shock.
Long haired hippies against the War,
That's what the show was all about,
Musical messages to score,
Dropping acid and dropping out.

Hair - happy 50th birthday,
A tad thinning and a bit gray.
