Haiti, As A True Comeback Kid Poem by Hebert Logerie

Haiti, As A True Comeback Kid

We can use this axiom not only in football
In the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament
We can also use this adage in our daily lives
To help us do better in our environment
We get knocked down every day. We fall
We, Haitians, get up and stand up as braves
We get hit by deadly hurricanes, earthquakes
Countless stupid dictators, kleptomaniac presidents
Corrupt officials, polluters of our rivers and lakes
Backstabbers, hypocrite friends and other rodents
We, Haitians, get up and stand up like heroes
We are not afraid to strive to achieve our goals
We, Haitians, are resilient in spite of the odds
The bigotry that we confront daily, the lies, the false ads
The gossips, the false rumors, the ever-present dangers
The threats of being fired by racist and godawful supervisors
And by bigoted and vile employers, but we still stand tall
Not too far from the walls. We know how to play hard ball
We fought for liberty at the battle of Savannah
And we received in returns insults. This world of saga
Is disgusting at times. We're still standing like palm trees
We're not afraid to look or to stare at the enemies
We got hit hard by lethal cyclones, we got slammed
We fell on our knees, but we stood up like we were damned
Like we were invincible. We were born to be resilient
Our fake friends are constantly plotting against us
Our God is with us. We're not afraid to carry the cross
We fear nothing. The sky is not the limit. We're brilliant
And ready to take care of the next task, to fight mentally
And physically the next battle to survive. The Almighty
God created Haiti, a tiny nation for a good reason
God is right. We'll always strive for a better season
Haiti is a true comeback kid. Haiti will sweat and bleed
The fire is in our blood. We have the energy that we need.
