Haphazardly Poem by Kim Dang

Haphazardly

Rating: 5.0

Haphazardly lost in the soft twirl of this music box
She keeps on fighting, as if there's not enough
time. Each single chime down to the ballerina socks.
Yet graceful still, outstretched arms, palms crafted open
Dancing out, my words unspoken.

Spilling remnants of any secrets and skeletons
like sprinkles onto her pink dress, as she's going round
She slows velocity, the tinkle, each sound
Let her wrap it all up to me, silent and watchful, now
so I can close the lids to this, as her batteries run out.

Within her darkness, underneath all the journals in my drawer
Nested in favorite cloths, gifted scented candles to secure her aura
Have her soaked dress evaporated yet? Does she still hear each
scribble on themed parchments, color coded for the passing seasons?
By now, have she figured me out, what I've bared, my witness?

I've replaced her simple joy with online instrumentals
Gone, the ink I immortalized on papyrus to WPM acronyms
Like acoustic wasn't enough to satisfy my electric highs.
And following my trend, Rock Star replaced Welch's grape juice blend.
Blinding lights and groping hands over my father's green oil scent.
My dawning substitutes, they're bitterly inadequate.
Darn myself for replacing what's good and innocent.

this poem is amazing. i'll never look at a jewellery box the same again. i love the last two lines. they're so typical of someone who is growing up and out of old trends. don't ever stop writing.
