Happiness Is Sunlight Poem by Mohammad Younus

Happiness Is Sunlight

Happiness is sunlight,
stretching farthest when passed
from heart to heart,
etching warmth upon the soul.

It does not diminish in the giving—
a beacon that shines brighter,
reaching across quiet distances,
knitting light between us.

A smile, soft and brief,
carves a path of hope
that others may tread,
illuminating the road we, too, must walk.

To lift another is to unlock
the hidden gardens within,
where beauty lay unnoticed,
awaiting the tender hand of kindness.

A word of comfort,
a gentle act—
these bloom at the edges
of our common ground,
dissolving loneliness
in the hues of belonging.

Joy ripples outward—
a single touch becoming many,
until the horizon hums
with quiet togetherness.

What greater purpose than this—
to weave unseen threads,
binding us softly,
a fabric of shared grace?

A meal given, a listening ear,
the hand that lingers in care—
these are seeds sown in passing,
rooting in unseen fields.

And long after our steps fade,
they bloom.
Their fragrance returns,
gentle and sweet,
carried back by the winds of time.

We are vessels of light,
meant to empty and refill.
To clutch happiness is to cage a bird
whose song was made for the open sky.

But to release it—
is to hear melodies
no one voice could hold alone.

Let us scatter joy like seeds
across the morning air,
trusting they will rise
where they are destined.

And when the harvest comes,
may the world gleam softly—
a field of flames, reflected,
each one a piece of the boundless love
from which it first arose.
