Happy Birthday.. Poem by Nina Salazar

~ I actually wrote this for my best friend's birthday, it took me about a week to complete it, I had writers block at the time.. I finished it the..28th of June '09 i think. Well.. Have.. Fun reading? ~

On this great day,
I might not be here, but I want to say,
Thanks for all that you do,
Thanks for being a great friend too.

Today, I wish you the greatest,
That this day turns out the best,
You’re moving to another stage,
Now thirteen in age.

To be there for you too I intend,
Until the very end,
My best friend, as you can see,
I loveth thee.

All the times we’ve had,
When we were mad, happy and sad,
Arguing about pointless things,
Then mending everything.

When I was feeling down,
Maybe even hoping to drown,
Cheering up knowing you’d be there when I needed,
When being dead I pleaded..

As writing this I didn’t know how to begin,
Our friendship, how it’s been,
Now, where to start?
You left a mark on my heart.

The time we met, you thought I was strange,
When I read that poem everything seemed to change,
From then to now, best friends we became,
Nothing’s really been the same,
My best friend, this is for you,
Happy birthday to you.
