Happy Birthday By Meena Mustafa Poem by Meena Mustafa

Happy Birthday By Meena Mustafa

Birthdays mean a lot to me and memories that I hold

This is the song that we hear, even when we are old

I am so happy, it's my birthday what else do I say

I thank my parents who brought me here in this world today

It seems now I've travelled from days when I was so young

It still echoes back to me when happy birthday is sung

Oh, how I remember my frilly frock, how dirty did it get

With chocolate icing over it, I simply cant forget

The backyard where the baskets hung with candies as a treat

Oh, how I recall the way we raced with our tiny little feet

The balloons and the cake, and the magic that filled the air

It was more like a Disney dream for my friends who were there

I didn't realize how time would fly and here I am today

Recalling memories of my past with my son every day

Once again it's time to celebrate, so blow your shiny horns

Let me dance to the music and rejoice that I am born....
