Hardship Instead Of Happiness Poem by Claude Davis III

Hardship Instead Of Happiness

I'm talking all night over the phone
Instead of laying their stroking your hair
Feeling sad and all alone
Instead of feeling happy with you over there

Staying up past midnight wishing I was holding you
Instead of falling asleep early with you in my arms
Feeling that the world is unfair and untrue
Instead of being with you without any alarms

Waking up early in case you'll call
Instead of sleeping in cuddling all day
Feeling like I always have to climb over a wall
Instead of taking it easy with you today
