Have A Good One Poem by Joseph Blitch

Have A Good One

I have heard it said at least a time or two,
Now that was a real fine how do you do.
Greetings, as well as leave-takings, vary,
Some long-winded; Others without tarry.

Some truly caring from deep in one's soul,
Others sounding uncivilized and very cold.
Hopefully no greeting from the Uncle Sam,
Life turns like rushing water reaching a dam.

His call to war leaves damage, much untold,
Bruising and scarring, body, mind and soul.
Some remember lives lost in immense pain,
Dread of saying goodbye many try to refrain.

With the visitation and conversation all done,
On parting they simply state have a good one.
The meaning of the words some don’t know,
They mean blessings, accept it as on you go.

On each occasion, this wish to you be told,
No matter what your time ahead may hold,
Departing to work, shop or off to have fun,
May you richly be blessed with a good one!
