Greatest Quail Hunt Poem by Joseph Blitch

Greatest Quail Hunt

Everyone enjoys a healthy meal of quail;
Point of fact it is beneficial for the frail;
Look at the nation of Israel led by Moses;
About a great quail hunt the bible tells us;

Exodus 16; Numbers 11; and Psalms 105;
Tells of how God kept them fed and alive;
An omer of manna to meet ones daily need;
Honey wafer taste; White as Coriander seed;

600,000 footmen with women and children;
Murmuring while in the wilderness of sin;
The manna is filling and taste good to eat;
But we are feeling frail and do desire meat;

God replied, Your forty mile camp shall be,
Covered a yard high with quail from the sea;
For 36 hours nonstop weaklings collected bird;
Minimum taken by each; 110 bushels; absurd;

Of gluttony and a plague many of them died;
In Horeb thirsting for water the people chided;
Moses struck a rock from which water came;
Stop complaining; Trust God; Praise His Name!
