Have That Talk Poem by Ima Ryma

As a mermaid I knew that I
Was partly human, partly fish.
I wanted to ask my Mom why,
But then I would get bashfulish.
Some friends did tell me we were born.
Some friends did say that we were hatched.
This caused my thinking to be torn,
An issue in my head I scratched.
At last I got up nerve enough
To go to Mom who should know sure.
Mom was really smart about stuff.
The answer I did get from her.

Mom stated definitively,
'A stork delivered you to me.'
