Have You Ever Been In Love? Poem by Lora Colon

Have You Ever Been In Love?

Rating: 4.8

Have you ever been in love,
Did the angels sing for you?
You could tread fire, but that heavenly choir
Is all you'd answer to

Have you ever been in love,
Did you sigh, then kneel and pray
That every kiss would feel like this
And tomorrow would be like today?

Have you ever been in love,
Were you sure this love was the one,
Only to get near and have it disappear
Like a snowflake in the sun?

Have you ever been in love?
Have you ever loved too much?
Like orbs of light floating in the night,
You reach out, but there's nothing to touch

Have you ever been in love,
Have you yet to feel the sting
Of good-bye's refrain, and the awful pain
That only love can bring?

Have you ever been in love?
Do you know that someday you'll weep?
A perfect love, though blessed from above,
Is impossible to keep!

hey! when i submitted my new poem (see below) , it didn't sound 'right'! i've changed it to this: Impossible To Keep... [ Inspired By Lora Colon's Have You Ever Been In Love; Mostly True] - Poem by Bri Edwards For me, loving comes easy, and it doesn't make me queasy... (thank goodness) . A winsome smile, a bedding trial, and out comes wedding band, but in a year or four or nine, the smile... is gone; I release my once-loved one's hand. But, cheer up! . Bri does not (often) weep, 'cause so far he's learned: 'Love is impossible to keep.' (November 26,2016) Bri Edwards Topic(s) of this poem: love
