Have You Ever Seen Poem by Iftekhar Bukhari

Have You Ever Seen

Rating: 5.0

Have you ever seen?
Have you ever seen
in the blessed noon times
old and frail women
in the queues
after getting searched by the guards
crossing the main gate
where gratified prides
do acts of benevolence, with
a little bit of flour
a little bit of ghee
Kids shivering in the cold
in the cutting mist of the mornings
washing costly vehicles
and putting the colorful and heavy schoolbags
of the neat and tidy children in them
Have you ever seen
the little housemaids
bought for a few thousand rupees;
debauch old men
taking pinches of their bodies
when in their thought
they are not being watched
Have you ever seen
the mass-marriages
when they play the abhorring game
of reproduction of the slaves
Have you ever seen
the ailing laborer women
in the scorching sunlight
waiting for the doors of wealthy
to open
If you haven't seen all this
then, I am sorry to say
You are a poor man
living in a poor neighborhood! !
