POEM "HAYMAKER" by martin gedge

You raised the glove
of boxing love
a king to walk the ring
not often shy like butterfly
to shake and move your thing
you made cliche as Cassius Clay
from head to toe Ali
to take each bout to knock you out
and sting just like a bee
to punch and jab with gift of gab
with every drop of sweat
round by round the bell would sound
a pounding you would get
for every welt was worth the belt
as graceful they would fall
inside the camp there rose a champ
the greatest of them all....
