He Could Not Stay With Me (Parody) Poem by Gert Strydom

He Could Not Stay With Me (Parody)

(with apologies to A. E. Housman)

He could not stay with me; and it’s getting me under.
He could not stay with me and I am amazed at his gaze,
I shook his hand and gave my heart in blunder
and went with half my life into my days.
