He Has Escaped! Poem by Marilyn Lott

He Has Escaped!

Oh no, he has completely escaped
His home is deserted it's true
Where could he have gone?
A chase will have to ensue.

He's not very big, of course
A baby is all that he is
Let's stop and think a bit
Pretend that it is a quiz.

Only a half hour or so
The egg, blue as can be
Was filled to the brim
At least it seemed so to me.

Then a short time later
I saw it just like this
Broken really in half
What in the world did I miss?

Of course he had to go
For he'd grown way too big
His shell would have cracked
Like a sweet plump fig.

I sure hope one day soon
He will stop to tell me "hi"
I feel like a sad momma
Whose baby did not say bye.

He Has Escaped!

A robin? It's the right color for a robin egg, but hard to judge the size from the picture. I enjoyed the poem!
