He Loves (Caudate Sonnet) Poem by Leslie Alexis

He Loves (Caudate Sonnet)

He loved before he knew love had a clause.
He loved before the days of lust and fantasies.
He thought she was a rose among the daisies:
He loved… He loved... he loved. This was the cause:
She caused his heart to leap and time to pause.
He gave her praise transcending her realities.
The love was first of his many fatalities.
Each day he loved, he loved her just because,
Because… because, he knew no other way.
She had a look that does forever linger,
A touch that melted him where he stood.
His love finally gathered words to say;
Today a curse mark rests upon his finger.
Though true, his love was not understood.
She spoiled a man that could…
He has many scars - the wounds never heal;
He thinks that no affection could be real:
All Love is just a meal.
Because he loved, he was a fool that Tim.
They had three children: Zoey, Sam and Kim.
