He Sits In The First Row In The Mosque... Poem by Mohammad Younus

He Sits In The First Row In The Mosque...

He sits in the first row in the mosque...
...but doesn't follow the golden rule...
...to be awake and conscious of the truth...
...while sitting in the presence of lord;

When the preacher gives out a sermon...
...he sleeps, snores, and sees dreams;
And so his heart is not enlightened...
...by the message of Qur'an;

So always remember the golden rule;
Listen with open eyes, ears, and heart;
And do your best to follow the Quran...
...that you hear while standing behind Imam;

Then you'll never have to confess...
...on the Day of resurrection, when you stand...
...before Great God, in His court of justice;
That you were in deep slumber when...
...in the world...
...being more concerned with the affairs...
...of nafs than the demand of soul;
And so did not hear the mighty word of God.
