Healing Someone Poem by Randy McClave

Healing Someone

Before you try to ever heal someone
Before you try to make them better,
And before that procedure is ever put on
And before you post it online or in a letter.
Before you buy medicine or antidotes
Or get their friends and family together,
Before you gather up remedies and notes
Or checking the temperature and weather.
Before you have an intervention
Before that or other procedures ever begins,
And before you ever admit your intention
Are they ready to confront or meet their sins.
First ask them, are they truly able and willing
Either with pills or a sermon or a shot when they ail,
As you get ready and prepared for their healing
Are they ready to give up the things that make them frail.
