Heart's Key Poem by Mal Sharp

Heart's Key

I would have thought I would have learned,
From the mistakes I've made before
Each time, yet still I'm not concerned,
It's too strong for me to ignore.

Feelings come, every time your near,
My body tense, my breathing stops,
Your face I look upon, revere,
My heartbeat stumbles, then it drops.

With one sweet smile my knees go weak,
With one kind word my soul, it sings,
My reply comes out as a squeak,
I'm your puppet you own the strings.

I wish I knew how to cut loose,
Or have you the way you have me,
To find the secret to seduce,
And hold in my hand your heart's key.
