Heavenly Souvenir Poem by Dr. Lourdes Vijayan R

Heavenly Souvenir

Conjoined agony be the best part of mine
Experienced the double sided existence of circumstance
Unfastened dad, unbolt the way of glad
Yes... That's She, baptized as Michael, unconfined the beat
Blasted Mom kept back hushed, unhurriedly unmouthed the proposal
Baffled..., baffled me... baffled me...
Reluctant primarily, causing the education extension
Say-so extended, further banter instigated
Engaged excitement, never felt ever...

Bags Packed, soul screamed, excited dreams, visioned the future...
Jumping hearts, Joyful lips, Smiling face
Left the lab, not sensed the gab...
Saturday... Flying learners around,
Joyful me... Marching towards transport
The gazing covetousness determined, stopped my delight
An anxious tone disturbed my bone...
Possessive fourth born with shaken tone... transmitted the topic...

Sick dad, incompetent to sit
Protuberance stomach made him too struck
Accomplished the hospice as race horse
Found a brave man... Tied hands and legs...
Scrolling tears scrolled... Not tolerable to hold...
Gazed my ecstasy as passing clouds...
Thought of uproar... Oh my God... Why this to me alone...
Disappeared delightfulness and disgraced mine stayed...

Loaded medicines found in his drawer...
Physician arrival longed... half assurance consoled...
Next day forgotten, completely cloaking on my dad...
Strengthened words of expert at 22.00hrs strengthened
Call flown and extended same strength to mom..
Pathetic... Pathetic... Pathetic...
She be attended prior to me... Departed soul intimated
Poor Old Lady, Unqualified to accomplish the indication... wept soul departed

Amplified confidence level, a prayer mat spread
Comrades of other patience gossip spread
Dead tired occupied... others attendance never bothered...
Closed eyes with bit petrifaction... Rested eyes ten minutes
Ravindran... Ravindran... Ravindran...
Third call woke me up, A minute required for my eyes
Recognized nurse, unmouthed ‘Come Inside'
Puzzled eyes and unordered notion seen in me...
Stepped forward... Immobile dad on stabled bed

Dazed physician documented... Pulse less body shown...
Tear filled eyes witnessed the untiring man resting...
Screamed... Screamed... Screamed... Appa Appa Appa...
Tireless hands, final minute heart beat, full of his last son thought disclosed
‘Gonna be the trouble of your wedding celebration
Take care of the poor soul your mother'
Departed...my dad departed... yes my dad departed...
Left me with a heavenly gift... Named Michael... Michael...

Dad... You are everything.. Indeed miss you dad... RIP
