Heavenly Stars Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Heavenly Stars

Sparrow on an old stone cross
Island of prayer on the Irish Sea
Wind swept solitude
Demons flee a true Saint
Tombs of mortal conduits

Shrines guarding divine gates
Sun through stain glass of piety
Greenfields of Holy Martyrdoms
Canterbury shall not forget Becket
Henry the Second forlorn as the grave

I’ve seen the catacombs in Rome
Felt the presence of angels
Seen bodies not decomposed
Waiting for the call of their Lord
Do you believe in the sacred?

Death doth not end it!
Life is truly a mystical journey
Bleating sheep on the hillside
I light a candle with a quiet prayer
Heavenly stars shine tonight

Heavenly Stars
