Cotton, one of our precious American commodities
True, Growing cotton takes lots and lots of water
Just to grow enough cotton for 1 pair of Jeans
an estimated figure of 1800 gallons maybe a little less,
especially if you like lots and lots of holes in the knees
And then we need water for something very important
Our food, we need to eat everyday right, well maybe
One pound of Food takes hundreds of gallons of h20
O' wait...you do know I'm speaking of vegetables right
Meat, meat is something else, a thousand gallons plus...Hello

I would like to translate this poem
Its such an important issue that I wish more people would get involved in, in north American and Europe we forget that their are regions of the planet so scarce for fresh water entire nations stave and die. I see this more as a polemic, a very potent polemic that should be read by others, we are living in a world where the population is accelerating but resources are scarcer. However there is some hope, Better technologies are being used to extract water moisture from the atmosphere, conservation efforts are improving the rates used in parts of India, and greater cooperation is placed between stressed areas, so there is some hope. Well informed write with good facts.
